Mamata finds time to watch Moner Manush

KOLKATA: On a day the issue of Union home minister P Chidambaram's letter to chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is churning the political scene in West Bengal, Trinamool chairperson Mamata Banerjee played it cool on Tuesday, finding time to go and see the Goutam Ghose-directed Moner Manush'.

The chief minister was busy during the day penning a suitable reply to Chidambaram's letter on harmad' camps in Jangalmahal while Pradesh Congress Committee president Manas Bhunia said that the situation in the state was ripe for central intervention under Article 355 of the Constitution. But Mamata managed time to leave for the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in south Kolkata to be present in the film show, though she addressed a closed-door meeting of party leaders at Trinamool Bhavan earlier in the day.

"I am going to see Moner Manush' because the film spans the two Bengals," Mamata said before leaving. Actor Prosenjit, who has played the lead role of Lalan Fakir, around whose life the story of the film is based, had, a few weeks ago, invited Mamata to see the film. In the past few years, Mamata has built a rapport with personalities of the film and the cultural world. Many noted film personalities have been present in informal programmes and get-togethers hosted by her.
